Transition FairMarch 11, 2010 Hosted by:
This event is free and open to the public! Students with disabilities and their parents frequently have questions about available supports and services as the students make the transition from the public school system into adult life. Evansville ARC and the EVSC have partnered together to provide the Successful Transitions program. The goal of this program is to ensure that students move from high school special education services into adult life with minimal delay or interruption. According to Crystal Sisson, Transition Consultant with Evansville ARC, “The Transition Fair is an opportunity for students and their families to access all providers in one convenient location. Providers will be at the Transition Fair to share information and answer questions about a variety of adult services.” Guest speakers will also be presenting on topics that include Guardianship, Case Management Services, Social Security Benefits, Employment Supports, Self Advocacy, Medicaid Waiver Services, Trusts and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Click here for presentation times and topics. Through the Successful Transitions program, a specially trained Transition Consultant meets with students, parents, teachers, and counselors to individually plan for the student’s future. The Transition Consultant will be on hand at the Transition Fair to answer questions and meet families. For additional information about the event, please contact Crystal Sisson, Transitions Consultant, at 492-1206 or csisson@evansvillearc.org. |
