Therapy Programs
In order to stimulate and enhance motor, social and development skills for each individual we serve, various therapies are offered in the Day Services Program For Adults at no cost to the individual.
Art Therapy
When an individual has difficulty expressing themselves in other ways, Art Therapy often facilitates developmental and emotional growth. Art Therapy creatively uses a variety of art materials such as paints and clay to help individuals express thoughts, feelings and emotions.

Assistive Technology/Speech Therapy
Through the support of a grant, individuals with communication difficulties are assessed and may be assisted with the use of alternative communication. Assistive technology can improve an individual’s communication skills and allow him or her to learn alternative forms of communication.
Evansville ARC employs specialists who train and support individuals on the use of their assistive technology devices. Individuals with disabilities can now communicate with their friends, family members, and direct care staff and have the opportunity to become more active in their community. Evansville ARC is the only agency in the Evansville area to offer this specialized training to individuals.

Snoezelen Room
A Snoezelen room, which serves as an oasis for individuals when they want to have a place to relax or calm their feelings, is available for individuals in our program.
It has been proven that a Snoezelen room can relieve symptoms of anxiety, disorientation, and stress without the use of drugs. It is designed to provide relaxation by stimulating the visual, auditory, smell and touch senses, through state-of-the art therapeutic techniques.

Music Therapy
Music Therapy enables individuals to explore expression through instruments and song. By feeling an instrument in action, individuals can pick up on vibrations and increase their response and eye contact skills. Through song, therapists assist a participant in increasing his or her movement skills.
Individuals also participate in group activities where they work together, such as dancing and manipulating a parachute while singing.

Pet Therapy
Through a partnership with the Vanderburgh Humane Society, pet therapy sessions are available on a
bi-monthly basis. Individuals who participate in this therapy learn relaxation skills, social interaction techniques and ways to carefully handle pets. Many of the individuals in our program, for the first time, are interacting with animals because of the pet therapy program.
