Behavioral Supports Services
Behavioral Supports Services are defined as “A broad range of systemic and individualized strategies for achieving important social learning outcomes while preventing problem behavior.” Evansville ARC started Behavioral Supports Services in July of 2002 due to a need for behavioral supports for individuals in our community. A Behavioral Supports Specialist works with parents, caregivers, and direct service staff to enable the individual to successfully live, work and enjoy recreational activities within his or her community.
Program Goals
- Determine the purpose of the individual’s behavior and understand the situation from his or her perspective through a functional behavior analysis
- Assist the individual in managing his or her own behavior
- Assist the individual in acquiring more socially appropriate behaviors
- Assist the individual in becoming better able to deal with his or her emotions, stress and frustrations
- Assist families and direct care staff in implementing individually designed behavioral support strategies for the individual served
Ongoing Support
Families and direct service staff receive needed assistance and support in implementing successful behavioral support plans and strategies. The Behavioral Supports Specialist is available seven days a week and can accommodate various schedules.
Enrollment Policy
Services are provided in the individual’s natural environment – home, school, work, or at the Day Services Program For Adults. We accept Medicaid Waiver and private pay.
