Volunteer OpportunitiesVolunteering can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Read a child a book, participate in an activity with an adult, teach a child about science, or help an adult become more independent in the community. Volunteers are important to Evansville ARC. You can work directly with those we serve, help with building projects, or join a special event committee. By investing your time and talents, you can improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. Some of our most important resources are people like you!
Evansville ARC is seeking interested persons to become volunteers. Volunteer applicants must be 18 years of age, successfully pass a criminal background check, TB test, and a drug screen. If you or someone you know is interested in a volunteer position, please contact Denise Seibert, at x310. The following positions, and many others, are available. Adult Services Clerical Assistant Use your clerical skills to perform data entry, copying, filing and distribution of required paperwork. Volunteer must know alphabet and previous clerical experience helpful. Training provided; volunteer should be able to work independently. Applicant Data Entry Clerk Do you have computer skills to share? Enter information into our applicant data base. Flexible scheduling coordinated through our Human Resources department. Behavior Support Services Clerk Use your clerical skills to assist in the office of Behavior Support Services. Help by copying and distributing behavior plans and filing required paperwork. Volunteer must know alphabet and previous clerical experience helpful. Training provided; volunteer should be able to work independently. Book Repair Repair books from the Child Life Center collection that have been damaged by being chewed on or torn. This job could be done on site or books may be checked out and taken to a meeting site and returned in repaired condition. An appreciation for books and the ability to use tape and glue required. Child Life Center Check-off Clerk Each month perform one or more of these required routine checks: battery check in C02 monitors, first aid inventory and medication box inspection. Attention to detail and ability to schedule your volunteer time on a regular monthly basis. Child Life Center Clerical Assistant Use your business skills to assist in our Child Life Center. As a substitute receptionist you may greet families and answer the telephone while the program coordinator works on special projects; provide clerical assistance with medical records. Familiarity with office procedures required, confidentiality and professionalism a must! Clean/Organize Playground Shed In the spirit of spring cleaning, remove all items from toy shed located on Child Life Center playground. Unclutter and organize items stored inside. Must enjoy cleaning and be able to perform light physical activity. Client Assistant for Adult Day Services Assists with classroom activities, helps with lunch duties, provides one-on-one attention to clients and forms friendships with individuals in Evansville ARC's Day Services program. Interest in helping individuals with disabilities develop practical and social skills a must. Applicants must meet drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. Community Job Link Assistant Put your business experience to work by helping others. Volunteers are needed to help individuals with disabilities prepare for their job search by conducting mock interviews. Volunteers might also help provide leads for job openings. Assistance with periodic Job Club social events is also needed. Development Researcher Do you Google? Enjoy surfing the internet? Spend your online time doing research work for Evansville ARC This task can be performed on the volunteer’s own schedule and location of their choice! Hobby/Special Interest Demonstration Share your knowledge or special interest with our adult clients. Do you sing or play a musical instrument? Are you a skilled artist or craftsman? Do you enjoy cooking, games, or an interesting hobby? Do you have a unique profession? If you answered yes, we encourage you to share your knowledge! Volunteer to give a small group presentation to adults in our Day Services program. HR Clerical Assistant HR assistance needed with document scanning, filing and shredding; data entry and special audits and projects. Must be familiar with general office procedures and have some familiarity with Human Resource functions; knowledge of HR Office a plus. Confidentiality and professionalism a must! Applicants must pass drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. HR Librarian Literature lover and/or born organizer? Volunteers are needed to sort, organize Human Resource materials and develop a check out system for supervisor's use. Scheduling is flexible. HR Photographer Handy with a camera? We need good photos taken of all new employees for use in the HR Office Database program. This task could be scheduled twice a month and likely accomplished in less than one hour. Human Resources Safety Assistant Perform routine on-site safety check list and help with occasional health and safety related projects. General office experience helpful; flexible scheduling. Kitchen Assistant for Child Life Center Assist our Child Life Center's food service supervisor by passing loaded food carts, assist with food stock and dishwashing tasks. Volunteer should be able to perform light physical labor. Applicants must pass drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. Laundress/Launderer Volunteer needed to launder classroom and kitchen linens. Applicants should be able to operate automatic washer and dryer on site. Light Duty Cleaning Like to put a shine on things? Volunteers are needed to wipe down and sanitize children's toys and cubbies. Volunteers should have an interest and ability in keeping things clean and sanitary; ability to work with mild cleaning solutions. Lunchroom Volunteer at ARC Industries Lunchroom volunteers spend time in the employee break room at ARC Industries assisting clients when needed and sharing friendly conversation during lunch time and work breaks. Volunteers should enjoy working with adults with disabilities who are a part of the Work Services program. Applicants must meet drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. Photo Documentation Are you a shutterbug? Take photos of children participating in activities as directed by staff. Assemble photos in portfolios for NAEYC accreditation. Ability to take quality photographs and take direction from staff; having own camera might be helpful for this task but agency camera may be utilized. Playground Gardener Use your green thumb to help spruce up the green areas of our playground during the spring and summer months; must have interest or general knowledge in horticulture. Scheduling is flexible for this position. Recruiter's Assistant Support the work of our Human Resources department by assisting with criminal background checks, giving building tours, and assist with data entry and document management. General office experience helpful; flexible scheduling. Resource Librarian Are you a born organizer? Volunteers needed to sort and organize the idea and activity files in the Child Life Center’s teacher resource room. This task requires the ability to sort and group items in an orderly fashion as well as attention to detail. Scheduling is flexible. Seamstress Volunteer at your convenience! Use your talent to create bibs and clothing protectors or alter children's dress up clothing. Basic sewing ability required. Pattern and some materials provided for some projects. Special Events Volunteer Volunteers will provide assistance with events and activities that raise awareness and funds for Evansville ARC. Events include The Really Big Show, Disabilities Awareness activities, Transition Fair, client dances, and other events. Skills include ability and willingness to perform general labor. Skills in promoting, fund raising, networking, and leadership are also desirable. Must meet drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. Special Publications Assistant Volunteer your time with our Human Resources Department to develop communication pieces such as email blasts, newsletters, employee cookbook, or monthly wellness update. Good grammar skills are required and writing experience preferred; flexible scheduling in our HR department. Successful Transitions Clerk Use your clerical skills to assist in the offices of Evansville ARC's Transition Consultant. General office skills preferred but not required. Tasks include copying and folding flyers and other clerical duties as needed. Summer Camp Special Activities Visitor Special projects and activities wanted for summer camp program! Lend your talent or share your work skills to enlighten the children who attend our special summer session. Have a talent to share and be able to relate your information to an audience of 6-12 year olds. Supply Drive Conduct a supply drive in your neighborhood, church, social or civic group, or business to benefit supplies needed by Evansville ARC clients. Ability to organize, publicize and collect items such as new or gently used adult size stretch waist shorts; art supplies: colored pencils, markers and construction paper; paper towels; plastic spoons; hand sanitizer; new washcloths. Task Tutor Help adults in Work Services learn new job tasks. Work alongside a client to help them practice skills required for assembly jobs. Applicants must pass drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. Teacher Assistant in Child Life Center Volunteers will provide assistance with children's activities in the Child Life Center. The Child Life Center serves children with and without disabilities six weeks to six years of age. Duties may include working one-on-one with pre-K students in a group setting or rocking and feeding infants. Love, patience, and an interest in helping children develop practical and social skills. Applicant must meet drug screen, criminal history and Evansville ARC training requirements. Tutor/Educational Activity Planner Volunteers are needed to develop "released from work activities" for adults in the Work Services program who finished their assigned job tasks early. Develop lessons and programs that promote and review basic skills. Package activities with simple instructions for individual use; volunteer offsite at your own convenience! Vehicle Detailing Make our client's ride shiny and new by detailing our agency vans. Clean exterior and interior of agency vans. Supplies provided; flexible scheduling. This is a physical activity that is great for groups or individuals. Work Services Clerical Assistant Help is always needed with copying, filing, and shredding of documents in ARC Industries Plant 1.
